Use case · Live Translate

Cross-border sales and supplier calls you can actually follow

When a factory, distributor, or buyer speaks another language, you need speed and checkable wording — not a phrasebook. Live Translate shows the original line next to the translation so you can confirm numbers before you agree.

Built for CN↔EN deal conversations

Cross-border account managers, Amazon / Alibaba sellers, and founders run recurring calls where missing a digit costs money. Dual panes keep the spoken Chinese (or English) visible while you read the other language.

Use it for sample negotiations, production updates, QC walkthroughs over video, and weekly AM syncs. Free minutes are enough to feel the dual-pane wow; Pro covers recurring bilingual meeting load.

A practical call workflow

Before the call: set Speak-in to the supplier’s language and Translate-to to yours (default Translate-to is Chinese if that is your working language).

During the call: skim the translation for meaning, but confirm prices, dates, SKUs, and Incoterms on the source pane.

After the call: copy the bilingual transcript with one click to paste into your CRM or WeChat follow-up — full file export formats are coming; copy/share is available now.

What we will not claim

Live Translate does not replace a professional interpreter for contracts, audits that require certification, or high-stakes legal negotiation.

It does help you stay in the conversation, ask better clarifying questions, and reduce “I thought you said…” loops on routine commercial syncs.

Practical tips

  • Ask speakers to say numbers twice when MOQ or unit price matters.
  • Keep product names consistent — jargon still benefits from a human glossary later.
  • Pair with English ↔ Chinese live if that is your primary lane.

FAQ

Does it work on Alibaba or WeChat voice calls?

If the audio is audible to your microphone or speakers in the browser, yes. Live Translate is not embedded inside Alibaba — it runs beside the call in another tab.

Which language pairs are strongest?

Soniox powers recognition and translation across 60+ languages. CN↔EN is our core ICP; also see English↔Spanish and English↔Japanese pages for pair-specific notes.

Do you save call audio?

No. Audio is streamed for live STT/MT only. We do not save the audio stream and we do not sell your data.
