English ↔ Chinese live translation you can verify

CN↔EN is our primary lane. Live Translate streams speech recognition and translation so English and Chinese appear together — original left, translation right — while people are still talking.

Why dual panes matter for CN↔EN

Chinese and English compress meaning differently. Seeing both panes lets you catch name transliterations, measure units, and polite refusals that a single caption stream often flattens.

Simplified Chinese is available as a Translate-to option; Traditional reading options are supported in the language list. Auto-detect helps when speakers switch mid-call.

STT quality note (honest)

Speech recognition and translation run on Soniox across 60+ languages. English and Chinese are among the strongest paths we market for live meetings.

Heavy dialect, crosstalk, or poor laptop speakers will still introduce errors. Treat the translation as assistive and confirm critical figures on the source pane.

Meeting etiquette tip

On CN↔EN supplier calls, ask speakers to pause after long number sequences. Dual panes update quickly, but a half-second pause dramatically improves digit accuracy for both sides.

Practical tips

  • Default Translate-to Chinese (zh-CN) if that is your working language — change Speak-in to English or Chinese as needed.
  • Use Copy after the call to paste a bilingual note into Feishu / Slack / email.

FAQ

Is this Mandarin only?

Mandarin (Simplified/Traditional reading options) is the primary Chinese path. Cantonese and other varieties may be weaker — verify with a short test before a high-stakes call.

Can I go Chinese → English and English → Chinese?

Yes. Speak-in and Translate-to are independent. Flip them when the other side talks.

Do you store the audio?

No. Audio is streamed for live STT/MT and not saved. We do not sell your data.
