Live-translate Zoom and Google Meet without a meeting bot
Open Live Translate in a browser tab, press Record, and put the meeting on speaker. You get a live dual-pane view: what was said on the left, what it means on the right — while the call is still going.
Why captions in Zoom or Meet are not enough
Built-in captions are usually locked to one platform, one language direction, and one pane. If you need to verify a price, a date, or a product name, you often cannot see the original wording next to the translation.
Live Translate runs in any modern browser tab. It listens through your microphone (or system audio via speaker), so it works alongside Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Webex, or a phone call — without inviting a third-party bot into the meeting.
How to use it on a live call
1. Open livetranslate.stream and pick Speak-in / Translate-to languages.
2. Join your Zoom or Meet call as usual.
3. Press Record in Live Translate and allow the mic when prompted.
4. Keep the meeting audible (speaker or headset open to the room). Read the dual panes while you listen and reply.
Tip: a second monitor or a split window keeps the panes readable without covering the video grid.
Honest limits
This is assistive live translation — good enough to follow and reply, not a certified interpreter replacement for legal or medical proceedings.
Audio is streamed to speech-recognition and translation providers to produce the live text. We do not save your audio afterward. Background noise, heavy accents, and overlapping speakers can reduce accuracy; always check the source pane for critical details.
Practical tips
- Prefer a quiet room and a clear mic path over trying to capture distant laptop speakers.
- If two people talk over each other, pause and ask one to repeat — the source pane makes that easy to spot.
- Chinese ↔ English and other Soniox-supported pairs work best; treat unfamiliar accents as “verify before you commit.”
FAQ
Does Live Translate join my Zoom or Meet as a participant?
No. Nothing joins the call. It only uses your browser microphone (or what you play through speakers) on your device.
Can I translate a recorded Zoom file?
This page is for live meetings. Play the recording through speakers into the mic, or wait for file upload workflows — live dual panes are the product today.
Is my meeting audio stored?
We do not save audio. It is streamed for live speech recognition and translation, then discarded. We do not sell your data.
