Use case · Live Translate
Customer support calls without waiting for an interpreter line
Support teams lose minutes when language is the blocker. Live Translate gives agents a live bilingual transcript so they can follow the customer and answer while the call is still open.
Where it fits in a support stack
Use Live Translate for escalations, VIP accounts, and markets where you do not staff every language 24/7. Agents keep their existing phone softphone or Meet link; Live Translate sits in a second browser tab.
The source pane is the honesty layer: if a refund amount or serial number looks wrong in translation, agents verify against the original wording before promising anything.
Agent checklist
Confirm Speak-in matches the customer’s language; Translate-to matches the agent.
Narrate critical confirmations back to the customer (“I heard you say the order number is…”) using the source pane.
Copy the bilingual transcript into the ticket when the call ends for handoff quality.
Privacy posture for support audio
Audio is streamed to speech-recognition and translation providers to produce live text. We do not save audio. Do not use Live Translate for regulated conversations that prohibit third-party processing until your legal team reviews the stack.
Practical tips
- Coach agents to slow speakers down politely when accuracy matters more than speed.
- Keep one language pair per agent shift when possible to build familiarity with common phrasing.
- Pro minutes are sized for recurring call volume; Free is for trials and light use.
FAQ
Can multiple agents share one Pro account?
Solo Pro is live today. Team plans (pooled minutes + seats) are on the roadmap — start with individual Pro seats if volume is high.
Does it work with phone bridges?
Yes if the call audio reaches the browser mic (speakerphone, softphone, or conference device). Quality tracks how clean that audio path is.
Is this a replacement for bilingual agents?
No. It is assistive — good enough to follow and reply. Hire bilingual coverage for high-stakes or high-volume queues when you can.
